Summer is almost over and I only have one question for you…
Have you seen the Bulls yet? The Durham Bulls baseball team is still swinging hard this season and it’s about time you paid them a visit. Our boys have been doing well this season and even took home their seventh straight win yesterday at Lehigh Valley. Be there at their next home game cheering they on. Summer isn’t summer without a trip to see the Bulls. It’s gone by so fast, but now is the time to take advantage before the kids head back to school and reality sets in again! Head over to the official Durham Bulls website for the latest statistics and fun facts about our favorite Durham boys!
Their next home game is on August 5 against the Indianapolis Indians! The game starts at 7:05 pm and you can purchase your tickets online!
All In Good Time

The Raleigh Amphitheater and Festival Site is ready to bring you another knock-out concert. All you have to do is pick up your tickets!
The Barenaked Ladies are coming to Raleigh as a part of their All In Good Time tour. At 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 31, they will be tearing up the stage and YOU could be there to see it all! The Barenaked Ladies are probably best known for their smash hits like One Week and Pinch Me. True fans know that they have not only been going strong since their Canadian formation in 1988 but have produced some truly amazing and sadly overlooked albums; the latest of which (All In Good Time) hit the shelves this past March.
Pick up your tickets today for a show that is sure to remind everyone how amazingly unique this band really is!
Sugarfix Sings

Attention Duke lovers. A Chapel Hill music sensation is about to take you on the musical journey of the summer.
Billy Sugarfix is a singer/songwriter from Chapel Hill. His unique sound and passion for music have earned him rave reviews and descriptions such as ‘brightly-lit’ and “Sugarfix nails it”.
Sugarfix will be performing Wednesday, July 28 at 7:00pm in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for Duke students and faculty and children 12 and under get in for free.
Come out with your blanket and picnic basket for a truly heartfelt performance.

Who doesn’t love fresh fruit, ripe vegetables, and the buzzing of honeybees? Those are some of the joys of growing up in the South and enjoying summertime. Well residents of the Durham area will be in for a treat July 16th. The Duke Farmer’s Market is up and running!
The Duke Farmers Market is celebrating this season with 10th anniversary in 2010. People who visit the market site will see tents, booths and trucks from farmers and vendors who are selling fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, flowers and herbs. There will also be gift items, local pasture raised meats, roasted coffee beans and teas. Also, if you need new ideas for healthy lunches, this is the place to be. Cosmic Cantina, Jason’s Deli and The Picnic Basket will provide you with the health conscious meals.
Located near the Bryan Research Building , you can easily follows the directions and have a joyous day amongst nature. The market will be held weekly until the end of July, and then will begin appearing every other week beginning August 13th.
Live for Life is the sponsor for the Duke Farmer’s Market, and this year’s theme will celebrate the number 10 due to the 10th Anniversary of the market. There is also a huge focus on making people “Locavores”, which are those of us who try to eat as much local food as possible.

Get your lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets ready for an outdoor garden concert! The Kingsbury Manx will be live Wednesday, July 14th at the Sarah P. Dukes Gardens starting at 7:00pm.
The Kingsbury Manx’s 2009 release Ascenseur Ouvert is described as ‘one of the most gorgeous pieces of music compiled this year’ by Independent Weekly. It’s a mixture of graceful music, with enough depth to tug at the soul.
Outdoor shows at Music in the Gardens concert series will take place rain or shine, on the Gardens Visitor Center Lawn. Pets are not allowed. Beverages, including alcoholic drinks (beer & wine), will be available to purchase. Patrons will be able to show up 30 minutes prior, and set up their very own picnic spots.
Come out Wednesday and join a cultural experience like none other. Tickets will be $10 General Admission and $5 for Duke Students & Employees. Kids 12 & under get in for free, so bring the whole family! It’s a Garden Party!!!

Pork, Pickles and Peanuts: Tastes of North Carolina is a fun-filled festival and barbecue taking place this Saturday, July 10 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. As part of the 2nd Saturdays events here in Durham, Tastes of North Carolina brings you historical cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors and a juried tasting
competition featuring pickles, pies and preserves. Can you say YUM?
Head over to the Duke Homestead State Historic Site and Tobacco Museum on Saturday for a day of tasty treats and treasures. It’s a completely FREE event, yes I said FREE, and one that you will absolutely enjoy! The history of Durham is alive and well all throughout the city and this is just one way of showing it off!
