thankfulI have been having a string of bad luck lately. Don’t worry I won’t bore you with the details, but lets just say I was feeling sorry for myself. Something I always regret doing.

I have a quote that I try to fall back on when I start the downward spiral: “Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” – Buddha

Thank goodness for the wise! Do you have a quote that keeps you going when time gets tough?

cancer“You and your people are going a little crazy today — but in a good way! You should find that you’re pushing the envelope a little farther than usual, but not in a regrettable way.” – Astrology.com

Follow through with that charisma today! You want to step out of the boundaries and really go for what you want today!

Paula Dean postpones appearance in Durham

PaulaWhen I was little, I wasn’t watching Power Rangers or Strawberry Shortcake, I was watching the Food Network. Something about seeing people create these awesome ‘works of art’ from the stuff that was in my cabinet at home amazed me. It still amazes me, although now it’s being amazed while attempting to replicate what I see them do. I quickly directed my love of the Food Network from bouncing between shows, so sticking to my favorite…Paula Deen.

When I found out Paula was coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center this weekend, I about jumped out of my skin. Unfortunately, she has postponed both of her performances… sad day!

According to a Herald Sun article, Paula issued a statement saying: “I love traveling the country sharing stories, cooking, and visiting with folks, it’s one of my favorite things to do. That’s why I’m so sorry that those who bought tickets or were planning to attend are going to be disappointed. I apologize for that and I appreciate their patience.”

That’s okay Paula, we still love you. Maybe next time.

You know when people ask if what five things you would bring with you if you were deserted on an island? Chocolate is one of my five. Yeah it sounds a little extreme but it’s the truth. There is so much about chocolate that I love, I couldn’t really live without it. I mean yes, if I really had to I guess I could (but would NOT be happy!)

To me… chocolate is comforting. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and seems to make problems disappear. There is something magical about chocolate. I know it’s a silly topic to be writing about but I figured since in  about 5 days tons and tons of chocolate will be sent, shipped, opened, and devoured by Valentines all over the world, it was a fitting topic. I would give up loving chocolate, but I’m no quitter!

Now that you are up to date on what to expect this Super Bowl, it’s time to stock up on the essentials. After years of successful Super Bow experiences I feel qualified to give you the 411 on exactly what you will need on Sunday for optimal viewing pleasure! You will need the following:

  • A team to root for! What’s a Super Bowl party without someone to yell for, and someone to yell at!
  • Amazing food… the grub is a serious undertaking, do it right!
  • Great friends to celebrate with. Or looking at it another way, great friends to fight with over opposing teams (refer to first bullet)
  • Food… Thought it needed a double mention. But honestly, you can’t celebrate the Super Bowl without a rockin’ spread! (One tip is to make it a pot luck! Let people bring what they like best. It will lessen your stress as a host and provide you with even more deliciousness to choose from.)
  • Plenty of time. Don’t plan anything the whole day, except for the main event. This type of event requires extreme dedication, no throwing it together last minute or 3rd quarter cop outs.
  • Munchies. Okay, it’s food again, I can’t stress it enough! But can you blame me?
  • Zen… yes, zen. More than likely, something will NOT go as planned. Just let it happen! Go with the flow and don’t stress, there will be enough stressing at the Colts and Saints battle it out!
  • You thought I was going to say food didn’t you! :)
  • Fun. Seriously, this is the most important thing. Expect to have a great time, refuse anything less, and you will succeed in having the ultimate Super Bowl experience!

Alright. You have the tools. You have the spirit. Now GO, FIGHT, WIN at having a fantastic Super Bowl!

Super Bowl strategies

It used to be that the key to becoming the Super Bowl champ was to play the defense hard and run the ball. That was then, this is now, and it seems as though things have changed!
