High Maintenance Hair

I consider myself to be one of those with high maintenance hair.
I’m not a fan of my natural color, but other than that, I’m pretty happy with my hair. It’s long and thick and full, and naturally straight – which is what everyone who has curls wants. Of course, being a straight-haired person, I want the curls! So, all that makes my hair high maintenance for me. It takes work to dry and style and curl it, and keep the style going all the day long, and it takes money to keep it highlighted to the color I love.
Finding the time for a great color and cut sometimes is a challenge as well. I work full time and I’m a fanatic about keeping my weekends free and open. Last thing I want to do on a Saturday is spend the better part of the day sitting in a salon chair. Those of you with high maintenance hair like mine know that’s what it takes for a good cut and color, plus the styling afterward.
Most salons are booked solid on Saturdays anyway. But, I found a great local salon that has hours on Mondays – a rarity for a good salon. And, they offer specials to their clients who book on Mondays!
I’m checking out this one! I can even book my appointment online! How easy is that?
Check it out here. Let me know if you’ve been and what you think.

There’s been a lot of buzz, commentary and editorials out there on the topic of the attempted airline bombing last week.
Conservatives, Liberals and Independents alike are weighing in on how this happened, what went wrong, what went right and where breakdowns in communications and security happened. There’s no shortage of blame shifting over the whole thing, as you might imagine.
But one local resident was there. Click here to read more about his eyewitness account.

Italian Christmas Feast
My heritage includes a very Mediterranean/European background on my father’s side – Greek, Italian and Spanish. I learned so many great recipes from him and love to cook these robust and rich dishes.
One that stands out this time of year is the traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes, or as my father called it, La Viglia di Natale, where fish is on the menu instead of meats.
The recipes prepared for La Viglia di Natale that my father handed down are “secret family recipes” so I can’t share ours with you.
But here’s a site that offers many you may want to try out.
Buon Natale!

Saving Time and Looking Fine

Hey neighbors…. this is the season where we’re all pulling out our holiday finery for parties and events.
Don’t know about you, but most of my threads for a fancy night on the town are dry clean only. There’s no wear, wash and repeat with those kinds of garments. And, this time of year, who has any extra time for multiple trips to and from the dry cleaners? Not me!
We’ve got a local merchant who offers door-to-door pick and delivery for all your drycleaning needs.
Check them out and give them a call and save yourself some time and hassle.
