Some come and some go…. for the holidays.

If you’re sticking around town and are looking for some events to fill your holiday calendar, or treat your out of town guests to, then try a visit over to The Broad Street Cafe – a full-service restaurant, bar and entertainment venue. Enjoy wonderful wood-fired pizzas, soups, salads, sandwiches and specials—all with a creative twist, and most made from scratch.

The venue offers live music five nights a week, with a diversity of styles. Weekly programming includes: Bluegrass, Open Mic/Blues, Folk, Indie, and Rock.

Taking off for some adventure more your style? Enjoying a ski vacation over the holiday remains a hugely popular Christmas pastime. Check out some not too distant destinations for some powdery fun.

Without a doubt, Offbeat Music is the best music store in the city.  Located in Brightleaf Square, the place is packed with CDs, DVDs and listening stations.  With traditional record stores disappearing and even big box stores struggling, it’s great to see independent record stores like this thrive by giving great service from knowledgeable staff.  You can get details on their hours and location here.

Play Up Your Elegant Table

Picture 3With a little help from HGTV.com, you too can have a beautiful and elegant table when your guests show up for Thanksgiving next week. Whether your tastes run to vintage or chic, understated or glittery, there are a ton of ideas there to help you find a way to impress. The best thing about going with Thanksgiving for a design idea is that it can be tailored to be seasonal, so you can set your table from September to December with your loveliness, and leave Halloween for the kids. I’m not hating on Halloween, but it just makes more sense to get the most from your decorations, so you aren’t storing something for 11 months out of the year.

Do you have any great ideas to share with us about how you plan to decorate for Thanksgiving?
